Chesapeake Bay is the nation’s largest estuary, spanning 5,000 square miles (Yellowstone Park is roughly 3,000 sq miles).The tens of thousands of tributaries that feed the Bay dump approximately 9,000 tons of sediment in to the Bay every day1.In contrast, 4,000 tons of sediment dump in to the south end of Bighorn Lake every day.1Executive Order 13508.
